Shepherd's Pie
Mashed Potatoes
700g potatoes, quartered
75g butter
55ml milk
1 egg yolk
salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- For the mash, boil the potatoes, then drain them in sieve and place into a clean bowl.
- Add the milk, butter and egg yolk. and mash together
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

1 carrot, diced
1 cup garden peas
1 cup mushroom
2 tbsp Plain Flour
4 Bay Leaves
4 Sprigs fresh thyme
1 cup chopped tomatoes
4 tbsp Worcesterine sauce
450ml chicken stock
1 egg, beaten

salt and freshly fround black pepper
grated parmesan cheese

1. Preheat oven at 200 degrees celcius.
2. Saute the onion and garlic and cook for a few mins.
3. Add the carrots and mushroom until starting to tender, then add the meat.
4. Season with black pepper, thyme and bay leaves.
5. Add the butte and peas.
6. Sprinkle with flour and stir through.
7. Add tomatoes, worcestrine sauce.
8. Let this reduce slightly then add the chicken stock. Allow to reduce down until you have a thick
meaty gravy. Season to taste.
9. Remove from heat.
10.Grease an oven proof dish with butter and add the cooked meat.
11. Spoon or pipe the mashed potatoes over top. Brush with egg and sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese.
12. Bake for abt 20 mins or until the potato is nice and browned on top.
